  • Condition: This incense box/container exhibits wear consistent with its age. Imperfections include, but not limited to: soiling throughout, bottom, (interior) top rim and bottom rim devoid of glaze, minor pitting and imperfections in glaze. That being said, there appear to be no cracks nor chips. This kogo is unsigned.

    You are bidding on a Vintage (for sure), (thought to be) antique clam shaped, ceramic, Japanese Blue and White glossy glazed kogo (incense) box/container. Marking on unsigned box states:  "Dai min sei kanen sei". The top has a pleasing mountain and houses landscape. The bottom rim is dotted with whimsical fish in a textured sea. A great little kogo box for the collector!
    This box belonged to my Grandfather, a locally known and active antique (back in the day) collector/trader from the San Francisco Bay Area. He most likely bought this box in the San Francisco Bay area, where he lived, or in Japan, where he frequently traveled.
